Tata Tiago hatchback spotted at Dealership in Goa, launch on 28th March

Tata Motors is all set to launch the Tiago hatchback in India on the 28th of March; and the car has already made it to showrooms for display.

Tiago is the new name for the Zica hatchback which was suppose to be launched at the Auto Expo but was delayed due to a re-naming strategy to avoid clashing with the deadly Zika virus which has erupted in America.

The Tiago is an all-new hatchback, on an all-new revised platform which shares its underpinnings with the Indica. The design is inspired by the new Impact design language which the company is following and looks very much young and modern. The face has wide black smiling grille with a lower chrome strip that runs from the bug eyed headlamps connecting both on either side.

The lower bumper has attractive cuts and chrome ringed fog lamps housed in the air dam. The side has a tall profile which points out at a spacious and roomy interior. The rear has a roof spoiler and wrap around taillamps. The Tiago rides on 14 inch Alloy wheels.

The interiors too are a huge step up in quality and feel than from the earlier Tata’s we are used to seeing. The dashboard receives black and beige treatment.

The centre console gets a piano black finish and houses the 2 din audio system and silver ringed A/C vents. The side A/C vents can be customized and be had in contrasting colours on the Orange or Red exterior paint shades, while the rest get a piano black finish. The silver instrument cluster looks old and tacky in the modern looking interior.

Powering the Tiago is a brand new 1.2 litre three cylinder Revotron all aluminium petrol engine producing 85 bhp and 114 Nm of torque mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox. A brand new 1.05 litre Revotorq diesel motor produces 70 bhp and 140 Nm of torque mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox. An AMT gearbox option will be introduced on both petrol and diesel (a segment first) at a later stage.
