Chevrolet Sail spied Undisguised

There is lots of activity happening at Chevrolet. Cars are being given facelifts and engine upgrades, old cars are being scrapped, and new launches are being planned. Sail is one of the cars which has been undergoing testing for quite some time and is slated to be launched this year. Seen in the pictures is the undisguised Sail sedan which was spotted on the Pune Mumbai expressway indicating that the launch is not too far away.

As seen in the pictures, the front of the Sail has the Chevrolet trademark Double split grille with the Bow-Tie Chevrolet logo sitting right between it. Though the grille is similar to all the other Chevrolet cars. It reminds us of the Optra magnum which was discontinued few days back. The headlight are big and get noticed easily. The car has a slightly sloping roof line and the usual touches like the shoulder line which runs across the length of the car. The rear is dominated by a big Chevrolet Logo which sits right in the middle of the tailgate. The high mounted tail lamps are similar to those found on Fiat Punto. The car also gets rear wash and wipe.

Sail has simple lines and a plain design. Chevrolet has played safe with the design and made the car more conservative looking then Eye catching.  Having said that Chevrolet has managed to make the car look easy on the eye. The car is by no means ugly, just that it wont raise any eye brows.

Design and aesthetic appeal might not be Sails strength but space and practicality surely are. One look at the car and you can tell that this car will have loads of space and that means good practicality. Sail will be able to carry five people in comfort and will have enough space for the luggage too.

Chevrolet will equip the Sail with most of the features which are a norm these days. What remains to be seen is how good is the quality and how competitively can Chevrolet price the car. Pricing the car properly will be very important for Chevrolet as the sail will have to compete with established rivals such as Swift and i20 and cars like Micra, Liva and Figo which sell in good numbers. The car will get a 1.2 litre petrol engine in addition to a 1.3 litre diesel engine and we expect the launch to happen any time soon.
