Nissan will bring back the Datsun brand after more than two decades. The brand which gave the Japanese car maker the much needed thrust then will now play a crucial role to help the company offer customers a car with more value for money, style and packed with technology and innovation.

Nissan will be globally unveiling the Datsun brand and also it’s first offering a hatch in India. The company has launched the global brand website (www.datsun.com) and also India specific website (www.datsun.co.in).

Datsun returns under the same spirit Dream. Access. Trust. A new brand for the 21st-century risers says the company website.

Datsun has also released a sketch of the small car which will be launched in the Indian market in 2014 and is based on the previous generation Micra platform.

Datsun small carThe car will offer more space and aimed to take on the likes of Indica, i10 and A-Star. An interesting fact is the car will offer space for six occupants with bench type seats at the front and rear (it reminds me of the old Premier Padminis and Ambassdor’s). The Front seat is designed such that the middle seat can be adjusted to accommodate 3 passengers. The handbrake and gear lever is moved to the dashboard. The car will be powered by the 1.2 litre petrol engine in a lower state of tune.

More details will be unfolded soon. The Datsun brand will be launched simultaneously in South Africa, Indonesia and Russia.
