Exclusive Scoop: Mercedes-Benz B-Class Spied, launch on 19th July

After revealing the first pics of Mercedes M-Class before its launch and being one of the first to review the C 63 AMG, the saga of exclusive coverage of Mercedes Benz cars continues on our site.  This time it is the Mercedes-Benz B-Class. The first small car from Mercedes or for that matter from any of its competitors in India.

This white color B-Class was spied at the Mercedes-Benz showroom in Goa. The car was without any camouflage suggesting that the launch is not too far. B class is a small car but by no means it is small. The car offers good space and comfort and has good amount of boot space. Evident from the spy pic is the cab forward design, this design does generate lots of space on the inside. The car isn’t very low slung thus the seats are placed at a decent height and getting in and out of the car will be easy.

The rear of the car has tail lamps which are based on the E-Class. There are chrome strips on the bumper and a large one just above the number plate housing. The car has slightly swooping roof line and blackened out pillars. The side of the car has a shoulder line which drops down and fades as it reaches the rear door. There is another line which starts on the front door and rises up along the side. Both these creases along with the side cladding lends a sense of sportiness to the car.

The front of the car has a new generation grille similar to the one on the C-Class with the 3  pointed star sitting right in between. The front headlamps are swept back and have day time running LEDs. The front windshield is highly raked to generate maximum space on the inside.

As reported earlier the car is expected to be powered by a 1.6-Litre 4-cylinder turbocharged direct injection petrol engine in 2 states of tune with 122 PS and 156 PS of power outputs and a 1.8 litre 4-cylinder diesel unit again in 2 states of tune producing 109PS and 136 PS of power. The engines will be mated to 6 speed manual or 7 speed dual clutch automatic transmission.

The car will cost around 20 to 25 lakh depending on the variant and being a Mercedes-Benz, it will come loaded with all the necessary features.  Our sources tell us that the car will be launched on the 19th of this month.
