EXCLUSIVE: The Volvo V40 Cross Country is here!

Volvo’s next offering for the Indian market will be the V40 Cross Country – a fully imported 5-door entry-level crossover that will cost about 25 lakh rupees, taking on the likes of the BMW X1 and the Mercedes B Class.

The high-riding hatchback was spotted at a Volvo dealer-yard in Kochi by our friend, Anand, who has shared this picture with us on Twitter. One can see in the photo that the yard already has a handful of V40’s, which could be a sign that its launch is closer than we expect. Anand tells us that these cars were imported through the Kochi Port and are on their way to Chennai for pre-launch testing.

Volvo India’s managing director; Tomas Ernberg had earlier stated to our good pals at Indian Autos Blog that the V40 CC will initially be launched with a 1.6-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engines. The all-wheel drive variants will sadly have to wait till 2014, for their demand to gather up. While Ernberg had hinted on an April launch for the V40, we wouldn’t be shocked to see the launch invites roll-in as early as March.

The company is currently focusing on its dealership expansion plans and had recently opened up two new dealerships in Gujarat and Coimbatore.

Stay tuned to Goa On Wheels for more details on the V40 Cross Country in the coming weeks.
