Hyundai i20 facelift caught testing again

The Hyundai i20 facelift was caught testing again and this time in again close to Hyundai manufacturing plant in Chennai. Hyundai will launch the refreshed i20 and the hatchback is doing its final rounds of testing before the company launches it in 2012.

From the pics one thing is sure that i20 will carry the new Fludic design theme at the front while the will get subtle changes in the form of new design tail lamps. From the spy pics it seems, Hyundai was testing a either the Era or the Magna model. There are no major changes on the exteriors when compared to the current model.

We can expect more equipment pumped into the car to help it distinguish from its competitors. What we did not like about the current i20 were door trims which are made of plastic and does not give the car a more plush look from the inside.

The i20 will not get any mechanical changes under the hood and will be powered by the same 1.2 & 1.4 kappa petrol engines and 1.4 diesel engine. We hope Hyundai does give more power to the 1.2 engine which is quite sluggish for a car of its size. In the last minor facelift the i20 was launched in new variants with the Era model starting at under 4.6 lakhs (ex-showroom).

Hyundai may up the prices slightly by around 15-20k from the current price range.

We hope Hyundai will display the car at the 2012 Auto Expo as it completes 4 years in the Indian market since in launch in 2008 January. The i20 was first unveiled at the 2008 Paris Motor show in October.
