The second generation GLK has arrived in India to be badged as the GLC according to the new naming nomenclature. The New Mercedes-Benz GLC is based on the C Class platform and is currently offered through the CBU route as an Edition 1 variant.

The GLC is the best looking SUV in the Mercedes-Benz SUV portfolio and the design looks distinctive yet mature.

Design elements like the wide grille which protrudes out from the long bonnet, sporty bumpers with air vents on either side give the SUV an aggressive and elegant stance.

The side waistline rises up from the wheel arches and flows up along the side of the car and disappears into the rear door, while at the rear the raked roof flows smoothly into the boot along with beautifully detailed LED taillamps.

The bumper gets protective black cladding and chrome tipped dual exhausts pipes, another thing worth mentioning is the black cladding and side step which further accentuates the GLC’s credentials.

The interior has a mix of colours with brown and beige for the dash and wood finish and chromed over vents for the centre console.

The seats are supportive and offer high seating position which ensures that you get a great view of the road outside.

The GLC also has a lot of space and headroom and the large windows with pananormic sunroof further adds to the feeling of comfortable and airy cabin. 550 litres of boot space on offer to carry all your luggage around be it a long voyage or your sports kit all fits in.

GLC Edition is feature loaded

The GLC comes with a host of features which include Merc’s 7 inch COMMAND system, Eco Start/ Stop function and keyless Go starting function, automatic LED headlamps and wipers, full ambient lightning and five dimming levels, roller blinds on rear windows, Audio 20 CD sound system, rear vents and three airflow modes, leather trimmed dashboard, three zone climate control and three air flow modes.

On the safety front the SUV features Seven airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, adaptive brake lights, and 5 Star Euro Ncap rating

Power for Merc’s latest SUV comes from two engine options, a 3.0 litre four cylinder Petrol engine pushing out 245 bhp and 370 nm of torque and transmitting all the power to the wheels is the 9 speed gearbox.

The GLC 220d diesel engine pushes out 170 bhp and 400 nm of torque. 4Matic all-wheel drive system is standard on both the versions.

The GLC also has five driving modes Comfort, Eco, Sport, Sport+ and individual which will change the way the steering, throttle, transmission parameters behave while on the drive.

The GLC rides on 5 spoke 18 inch alloy wheels and can be had with off road Engineering package which raises the cars height to 20 mm and has upto three driving modes off road, Incline and Slippery.
