Earlier this week, the third Mumbai International Motor Show kicked off in style at the MMRDA Grounds, Bandra Kurla Complex. The four day event was inaugurated by Bollywood actor/producer, John Abraham and seven time world rally champion, Hannu Mikkola. The show will be open to the public from 11 PM- 8PM today and will go on till tomorrow.

Enthusiasts will find cars on display from various automobile brands such as – Audi, Skoda, Nissan, Mini, Volvo, Toyota, Mahindra, Hyundai, Honda, Premier, Renault and Chevrolet. While the press-release sent to us mentions the presence of Ford India, BMW and Maruti Suzuki, all three of them were conspicuously missing from the event.

Bikers too will find stalls from majority of their favourite manufacturers; Harley Davidson, Yamaha, Bajaj, Hyosung, to name a few. Special exhibits include the Hyundai Veloster Concept, a stunts section by a professional team, vintage car gallery and an accessories section with car wrappings on display.

Some of the cars we found interesting were:

  • Nissan 370Z
  • Rolls Royce Ghost
  • Audi RS5
  • Audi S4
  • Audi TT
  • Mini Cooper Countryman
  • Mini Cooper S
  • Mini Cooper Convertible
  • Hyundai Veloster
  • DC Avanti
  • Chevrolet Sail Sedan (Yet to be launched)

To sum it up, if you’re looking to buy a new car and wish to compare your options under a single roof, the MIMS is definitely worth a look. For enthusiasts however, the show will be slightly disappointing, given that we just had the Autocar Performance Show a few months back and most of these exhibits were already present there. Yet, if you love cars and have some extra time to kill, you better go just for the heck of getting a chance to sit inside a Nissan 370Z.
