Goa Panaji traffic cell sets new example of NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW.

Panaji traffic cell recently locked and challaned the official vehicle of the Mayor of the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP), along with several other vehicles which were causing an obstruction to the moving traffic in Panaji opposite the CCP office.

Vehicles along the 18th June road and city roads were checked for parking in no parking zones and which were seen parked or stationed (double parking) along the road, causing obstruction to traffic, were immediately clamped by the police, and drivers were fined.

An impromptu drive was carried by the Director General of Police (DGP), Dr Muktesh Chander along with Panaji traffic cell PI Branden De Souza.

During the day around 60 vehicles were challaned for obstructing traffic, of which five were government vehicles.

The traffic woes have been increasing as the number of vehicles have increased exponentially in Panjim, while the road width has remained unchanged. To worsen the situation, many drives double park and further add to the Chaos.

Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) should develop dedicated parking zone or building with automated Car Parking Systems which which saves space and also frees up the road for commuters.
