Premier to launch Rio CRDi on 2nd August

Premier will launch much awaited Rio SUV with 1.3 Multijet engine on the 2nd of August. Premier showcased the Rio Multijet at the 2012 Autoexpo. The company will badge the SUV as Rio CRDi4 and will get the all new look.

The prices of the Premier Rio CRDi4 start at 6.7 lakhs (ex showroom Pune). The Rio CRDi will be powered by the diesel engine of India, Fiat’s Multijet but with lower tune of 72 bhp (53 kw)@4000 rpm and 183 Nm@1800-2400 rpm. The engine will get a Fixed geometry Turbo charger without Inter cooler mated to a five speed gear box.

The new 1.3 diesel engine will help the company to start sales in the BS4 cities currently where the Rio is not on sale. The Rio CRDi is offered in black, white, red and silver body colors.

The Rio is also available with a 1173cc, 4 cylinder naturally aspirated BS4 complaint petrol engine. It has a power output 76.6 Ps (56.3 kW) @ 5800 rpm and torque of 103.9 Nm @ 3500 – 4000 rpm. The Rio with the 1.5 turbo diesel engine will be on sale in BS3 cities.

Premier currently has a nationwide sales and service network of 55 dealers that is being raised to 100 by December 2012. It is also setting up 200 authorized service outlets all across the country called PASS (Premier Authorized Service Stations) equipped to support the Rio.
