The sedan will go on sale in India and is a very important model for the company which has lost traction in the Indian market and is doing brisk numbers thanks to the Rapid and Fabia.

The Octavia will be assembled at the company’s Aurangabad plant and will sell alongside the Laura which is expected to be phased out after a couple of months. We can expect the similar powertrains on the new Octavia with a 1.8 TSI and 2.0 TDI engines mated to a 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.

The original Octavia launched in 2000 helped the company establish the brand in India and also was considered one of the most premium brands in those days.
