Spied: Nissan’s MPV, The Evalia

Nissan had  unveiled its MPV, The NV200 at the 2012 Auto expo in New Delhi. However we have not heard much about it from Nissan except that the MPV will be called Evalia and not NV200. Nissan has been testing the Evalia silently but the test mules were reclusive thus far..

The first images of the car have surfaced indicating that the launch is not to far. The Car looks nothing but an MPV and is very Van like. The front has swept back headlamps, a large bumper and steeply raked front windscreen. The windscreen appears to have been pushed towards the front to give the interiors a sense of roominess. The side profile is plane and has slider rear door like the Maruti Omni. The rear isn’t the best looking either and is dominated by boxy lines. It does get rear spoiler though.

The car adequately long and has good height which will mean that the interior space will be good. The car will have flexible seating in three rows which will add to the comfort. Evalia will be powered by 1.5 litre DCI diesel engine which produces a power of 100 Bhp and 240Nm of torque. Though not very powerful the engine will offer good fuel efficiency. The car will come with most of the necessary features. In addition there will be some high end features like rear view camera and Intelligent key.

The car will be positioned lower then the the Innova, the present segment leader and will not compete with it. But there are well established rivals like the Mahindra Xylo and the recently launched Maruti ertiga and going will not be easy for the Evalia. Evalia looks like a van and that could hit Nissan hard. The trump card for Nissan then will be the pricing. We expect the launch to happen in early September.
