Tata Indigo eCS facelift caught testing, launch in early 2013?

Tata Motors is getting aggressive with refreshing its lineup. The company has already launched 4 models which includes one new model and 3 refreshes of the existing models. Tata Motors officials have already announced of the launch 6 new models for 2013.

Thanks to our friends at ICB, who have managed to get spy pics of the refreshed Indigo eCS: tagged as World’s first compact car which has now become an all new category altogether not only in India by also in the international market.

2013 also seems to be the year for compact sedans with Honda launching its Amaze sedan based on the Brio platform and Mahindra planning to launch the Verito compact sedan which will get a chopped boot from the current Verito.

The Indigo eCS facelift was caught testing in Pune and gets smoked headlamps similar to those available on the VW Polo & Vento. A new redesigned grille (we speculate it will most likely be the triple-step chrome tipped grille which is available on the new Indica eV2) which could be carried over to future Tata models and new fog lamps. There is no major sheet metal change and the refresh will largely get a new features and tweaks to the engine.

We hope Tata plonks in a new steering wheel replacing the current odd looking T-shaped one.

The Indigo eCS will be powered by the same engine options: 1.2 petrol, 1.4 TDi and 1.4 CR4 common rail engine. No much details are currently available on the interiors but we can expect some tweaks in terms of upholstery, dashboard colors and finish.

Tata is also planning to launch the Vista with a 90hp diesel engine borrowed from the Manza. The biggest change here will be the new dashboard which is gets good customer response may be carried in the future Vista models.

Tata seems to be in the overdrive mode for the next 2 years to regain its lost position and is also gunning for spot no 2.
