Tata Nano Diesel caught testing, launch by end 2013?

Tata-Nano-Diesel

Tata plans to launch a number of new variants of the Nano Hatch, and the diesel Nano will one of them. The Nano diesel has been under development for quite some time and the company have deferred the launch date from 2010 to 2013.

Thanks to our friends who have shared images of the Tata Nano diesel caught testing in India. With Nano sales dwindling month on month, the company has certainly put the Nano diesel on fast track.

Rumours are the Nano diesel will be powered by an 800cc-two cylinder diesel engine with around 40bhp of power and 100-110Nm of torque at around 1,500-2,000rpm. The launch has been postponed as the company was not able to meet bench marked fuel efficiency figures. Also the car’s noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) is an issue.

The Nano diesel will carry world’s smallest turbocharger from Honeywell.

Tata is also planning to launch the Nano with CNG fuel option which could be launched in a couple of months. Tata is also planning a update which includes refreshed exteriors and interiors along with new features which will help to shed the low cost image of the car.
