TVS launched the 2013 edition of the Wego Scooter equipped with a optional front disc brake option. The Wego with disc brake option was first showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo and also reported about the launch. The disc brake variant is priced Rs. 4000 higher to the standard drum variant.
The Wego scooter is powered by 110cc 4-strokeengine developing a max power of 8bhp and max torque of 8 Nm. Considering the power output, there seems no real need to have a disc brake.

The front disc brake equipped variant of the Wego scooter is priced at Rs. 49,157 and the drum brake variant at Rs. 45,807. (All prices are ex-showroom Delhi).
Honda also offers the Aviator with an optional front disc and is priced at Rs. 53,531(ex-showroom Delhi)
The scooter market has been gaining a lot of traction with more players entering the segment. Currently Honda is the market leader, followed by Hero and TVS. Yamaha also introduced the Ray scooter which is doing decent numbers.
TVS plans to add more models in the future and also plans a powerful scooter targeting the male segment.
