Volvo to launch cheaper variants, boost sales

Volvo India wants to increase its sales in India and tap the growing luxury auto market. Volvo Auto India plans to launch stripped-down variants of some of its models to boost sales in an economy where rivals BMW, Audi and Mercedes are seeing an upswing in luxury car sales.

Volvo is planning to launch stripped-down variants of its existing cars which help to lower prices. Currently the company has cars in the price range of Rs 38 lakh to Rs 55 lakh and attracts 110% import duty which makes the cars expensive.
