Will the facelift with brighter colours help the BMW X1 take on the Audi Q3?

Audi launched the Q3 SUV in the Indian market with lots of fun and fare. The Q3 was unveiled at the 2012 Auto Expo. The Audi Q3 is the youngest member of Audi India and is positioned as a sporty, efficient and versatile urban vehicle.

Is Q3 technically the first in its segment in India? Well it was BMW to tap this segment first. The company is now the number one in India and the success can be largely attributed to BMW’s smallest member in India the X1.

The Audi Q3 is launched with a lot more equipment and flashy colour targeted largely to the Youth. The company has launched a TVC which also is aimed to attract the young and dynamic professionals.

So how can BMW X1 able to take on the Audi Q3 head on?

BMW has unveiled the X1 minor model change sometime back in the UK. Let’s take a closer look as to what has been changed in the facelifted BMW X1

In terms of design the sports activity vehicle (SAV) gets a loads of chrome embellishments which gives the X1 an upmarket look. The front bumper has been completely revised and gives X1 a meaner look.

The kidney shaped grille gets silver finish and head lights assembly gets slight modifications with LED day time running lights as an optional package along with a razor eyebrow which accentuates the look.

The rear the bumper and the taillight assembly have also been given slight tweaks. There is also a set of new engines offered internationally with ECO PRO mode and Auto Start Stop as standard. The X1 also gets a 8 speed automatic transmission but sadly won’t be available on the sDrive 20d which is on sale in India

The interiors get a slight refresh with a redesigned center console, chrome air vents and steering with silver finish. The ConnectedDrive offers customers the benefit of Bluetooth hands-free functionality with USB audio interface.

BMW may consider bright colours as compared to the sober colours which are currently on offer. The new colour option like the bright orange, blue and others will help give the BMW X1 a younger feel.

We hope BMW may also bring in the xDrive 20d and a powerfuel xDrive 25d in India to take on the Audi Q3 quattro. BMW may also revise the prices which could make the SAV even more competent.

So who will win the race according to you? BMW X1 or the Audi Q3?
