Ford India has been testing the Fiesta hatchback in the Indian market for the last couple of years. The American carmaker launched on the sedan variant and kept many enthusiasts waiting for hatchback.
The new Fiesta hatchback is one of the best looking cars and if launched at a very very aggressive price, it could re-create the Figo success for the company. Thanks to our friends at Motor Vikatan who spotted the car being tested around Chennai.
A couple of days back Ford unveiled the facelifted Fiesta. Fiesta was launched in 2008 and this is a mid life facelifted before the arrival of the all new model in 2015. The car now bears the new design language which is in sync with new models like the EcoSport, new Mondeo and Focus.
We are wondering why Ford has not launched the Fiesta hatch in the Indian market as the car along the sedan version could help bring some volumes. The new Fiesta is launch with class leading fuel efficiency engines and is considered one amongst the best driver’s cars.
If launched the Fiesta hatch will be pitted against the Honda Jazz and will also enter the Swift and Polo segment on the upper end of the variant build-up.
Ford’s next big model for the Indian market will be the EcoSport SUV which will hit the Indian roads early 2013.

Fiesta hatchback is longer than 4 meters which means it will not be eligible for excise duty cut. But if Ford reduces the length of the car under 4 meters, it’ll reduce the space inside the cabin. Remember that the second row of the new fiesta is already short of space…!!!!
Ya true about the rear space. But the new Hatch simply looks too good. Hope Ford tinkers with the bumpers to reduce the lenght
