Audi to start assembling Q3 in India by early 2013

Audi will start assembling the Q3 SUV in the Indian market by early 2013. We accept the company to do the formal announcement by end Jan or Feb. Audi India is expected to topple BMW to take the pole position in the Indian luxury car market.

The Q3 local assembly will be the fifth product from Audi to be assembled in India. The SUV could either be manufactured on an entire new line or on the Q5 or Q7 line at the Aurangabad plant. Production of the Audi Q3 will happen in the new Audi hall, which covers a floor area of 20,000 square meters (215,278 square feet).

Audi recently began the local assembly of the flagship Q7 SUV in the Indian market. Increasing demand from Indian customers for the Audi Q3, Q5 and Q7 SUV models has had a major impact on the brand’s growth in India: Over the first ten months of this year, the Company increased its sales in the Indian market by 55 percent to 7,273 automobiles. That means that Audi India has already clearly surpassed its record sales total of 5,511 cars for the whole of the previous year.

With the local assembly of the Q3 the waiting period will be drastically reduced and the gap between the rival German brand could be further reduced. BMW will launch the facelifted X1 early 2013 and the new pricing will help determine if Audi reduces the prices on the local assembled Q3.

Audi is also planning to launch a number of more models to keep it’s dominance in the Indian market.
