Bajaj Dominar 400 launched in Goa

Sitara Bajaj, sole dealer for Bajaj two wheelers in Goa has introduced the Dominar 400 in Goa.

The Dominar 400 carries forward much of the design cues seen on the CS400 Concept, save for some production ready bits like for the headlight which now gets LED headlamps with balanced white light and vertical automatic headlamp on function.

Bajaj first displayed the Dominar 400 at the 2014 Auto Expo as CS400 concept. The concept raised a lot of interest from customers who just loved the way the bike looked.

Powering the Dominar 400 is a 373cc triple spark four valve DTS –i engine with fuel injection and liquid cooling. The engine also does duty on the KTM 390 Duke RC 390.

The 373cc engine produces 35 PS of enormous power and 35nm of torque and all the power is transferred to the wheels through a 6 speed gearbox and a slipper clutch.

A large 43mm telescopic front fork with a unique dial type momo suspension takes care of ensuring the most comfortable ride, while a 320mm front disc brake and 230mm rear disc along with twin channel ABS provides added stopping power.

Speaking at the launch in Goa, a senior official at Bajaj Goa said:

The new Dominar 400 is a historic name for them, historic because a few years back, they created the segment that in India changed the from just riding a motorcycle to feeling the happiness of riding the motorcycle in a faster and safer manner.

The Pulsar created a segment called as the sports segment and they have been market leaders for past 15 years. The Pulsar has been contributing to around 50% of the sports market share in India with every seventh vehicle sold being a Pulsar in the sports category.

Having successfully created and dominated the sports segment, Bajaj Auto also had intentions to create a new premium sports segment in India which has become very large with many global companies venturing.

The Dominar 400 is a bike where every specification has been tuned to perform and deliver performance that will dominate. With the new Dominar 400, Bajaj hope to further consolidate their position in the premium sports category.
