BMW, Mercedes & Audi sales rise in India

German luxury carmakers BMW and Mercedes reported its highest ever monthly sales in India.

BMW sold 1,027 units in March and said it will decide by next month on further increasing output from its Chennai plant.  Mercedes-Benz India reported 89.32 per cent rise in its sales for March at 833 units. Audi saw its sales climbing by over three-fold jump to 681 units.

BMW in  March sold 1,027 units, up 69.75 per cent from 605 units in the same month last year. The firm’s previous best ever monthly sales in India was in December 2010 at 901 units. BMW India is proud to become the first luxury car manufacturer to cross the 1,000 mark in a single month.

For Mercedes the excellent growth performance for March 2011 was driven by the C-Class which with 356 units registering close to 300% growth over last year (March 2010: 90 units) while the E-Class recorded a strong sale of 307 units (March 2010: 255 units).  In the SUV segment, the M-Class  sold 104 units in March 2011(Mar 2010: 20 units). segment).
