GM dethroned Toyota

Toyota Motors is no longer the largest car manufacturer in the world, if we are to believe a report by Detroit News. From 1st Jan 2011 to 30th June 2011, Toyota Motors sold 3.71 million vehicles and for the same period, GM sold over 4.5 million cars.

GM recorded an increase of approximately 8.9% in the year to date sales figures, whereas, its Japanese counterpart failed to show a similar progress, instead Toyota  sales declined by 23% in the same period.

Largely due to the gigantic earthquake and ensuing Tsunami which disrupted Toyota’s production process to a huge extent.” GM replaces Toyota as the worlds largest car manufacturer.
