Honda car sales up, City sales zoom again

Honda India sales have climbed up the ladder, thanks to the massive price cut by Honda. The company sold 3,455 units during the month of June 2011 as against 2,334 units sold during May 2011 posting a growth of 48%.

Honda will soon enter the small car market with the launch of the Brio hatchback. The car if priced competitively will help Honda to get higher volumes.

Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI), leading manufacturer of premium cars in India reported sales of 3,455 units during the month of June 2011 as against 2,334 units sold during May 2011 posting a growth of 48%.

Commenting on the company’s sales volumes Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Sr. Vice President, Sales & Marketing said, “We have been working with production constraints for the last few months. However, recovery efforts are going on to increasingly meet the demand which has helped us improve our sales in June 2011. Sales of our largest selling model Honda City is back on an upswing, posting a growth of 53% from last month”.

The company sold 4,595 units in June 2010.

Honda Jazz is the company’s first offering in the premium compact car segment. The Jazz is a segment-defining car that has won accolades and adoration all over the world. Honda’s all-new Third Generation Honda City was launched in September 2008. It comes with a completely new design, new engine, and spacious cabin and equipped with various active and passive safety features.

The new Honda City achieved milestone sales with 50,000 units sold within one year of its launch.

HSCI launched the1.8 S Civic in India in July 2006. The company launched the Sportier and More Aggressive New Honda Civic in September 2009. Honda launched a refreshed version of the 3rd generation CR-V in November 2009.
