Low cost Nissan Micra caught testing, launch expected in March

Nissan Low price Micra

As reported earlier in 2012, Nissan is readying a lower cost Micra hatch, which will help the brand to cater to a larger customer base and also naturally progress down the ladder giving more room to Renault.

Code named G02A internally the Micra low cost variant will be cheaper by at least Rs. 50,000-70,000, which will come at the sacrifice of many luxury features. Thanks to our friends at Autocar India who have published images of the car testing on the outskirts of Chennai.

The base XE comes with features like Engine Immobilizer, Driver Airbag, Power Steering, Steering Tilt Adjustment, Drive Computer, a few important to be named. All these features could be deleted from the car to give room to an entry variant.

From the images we can also imagine the Micra to get some cosmetic upgrade in terms of new tail lamps and also more stylish headlamps. Interiors  may also be revised, with combination of grey & beige replacing the brown beige interiors.

With the prices slashed by Rs. 50-70K, will put the car in direct competition to Hyundai i10, Maruti Ritz and Ford Figo. At this price the Micra seems a good buy with a torquey engine, spacious interiors and overall a more refined car.
