Maruti to launch new 800, Hyundai HA 800 launch in 2011

Yes its back!!!And you thought it wont be back, you thought the dream had vanished……But  The darling of “4 on a scooter Indians” , the car we all dreamed of having when papa used to pick us from school on his vespa and the car that put India and Indians on 4 wheels…..is coming back. And yet again, its strongest points will be reliability and compactness. Both features in demand with the hard bargaining Indians I still have a hunch this car will do its bit.

The design is on the alto platform (which was actually designed on the 800 lines),but feels fresh and seems interesting. Its taller than the older model and more curvy. The front end is a crossover of the Chevy Beat and Alto and the rear  feels a tad like the A-star.

The new 800 will be powered by the same 796cc three-cylinder motor from the from the alto and will have a 5 speed transmission. The engine has also been tweaked to  meet the latest emission norms.Due to the rising fuel costs, Mileagewill definitely be on the minds of designers and value for money status will be expected to be retained. The new 800 will surely boast have better interiors and will be a little bit more spacious than before.

Price wise Maruti will be slotting it below the Alto and it will be gunning for the TATA Nano which is less practical for all round use.Once again the target buyers will be 2 wheeler upgraders who would love to have the trust and satisfaction of the Maruti tag.

With Hyundai soon coming up with their new small car code named the HA, Maruti seems to have caught them unaware of their plans….and gues what? Customers will always remain the King in this Game of Prices and Prides.

There is going to be a lot of pressure and lots of choice for the customers.
