The Skoda Rapid is based on the same platform as the Volkswagen Vento and therefore the resemblance is obvious. As you can see in the images, the headlights, grille and bumpers are lifted from the Fabia hatchback, but to uphold the proportions of a sedan, Skoda has integrated a new bonnet, bumpers and fenders.
Light alterations have also been made to the chin, to make a distinction between the hatch and the sedan. The Rapid will be available in two engine options, the 1.6 MPi (Petrol) and the 1.6 TDi (Diesel).
Both the engines churn out a decent105 BHP, while the Diesel offers more torque. The Petrol Rapid will also be available with an option of an Automatic Transmission though there is no such news for the diesel as yet. Prices are expected to start from Rs.6.5 Lakhs.
