Tata motors sales up by 11%

Tata Motors’ total sales (including exports) of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles in March 2011 were 83,363 vehicles, a growth of 11% over 75,129 vehicles sold in March 2010. The company’s domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for March 2011 were 77,431 nos., a 9% growth over 71,024 nos. sold in March last year.

Cumulative sales (including exports) for the company for the fiscal are at 803,322 nos. a growth of 25% over 642,664 nos. sold last year.

Passenger Vehicles

The passenger vehicles business reported a total sale and distribution offtake of 29,543 nos. (27,678 Tata + 1,865 Fiat) in the domestic market in March 2011, compared to 29,867 nos. (27,760 Tata + 2,107 Fiat) in March last year. Sales of Tata passenger vehicles for March 2011 are at 27,678 nos. Sales of the Tata Nano were 8,707 nos., higher by 85% over March last year. The Indica range sales were 6,937 nos., lower by 40% over March last year. The Indigo range recorded sales of 7,197 nos., lower by 5% over March last year. The Sumo/ Safari/ Aria/ Venture range accounted for sales of 4,837 nos., higher by 24% over March last year.

During the fiscal, Tata Motors launched the all-new Tata Indica eV2, Tata Indica Vista Drivetech4, Tata Indigo e-CS, new Tata Manza, Tata Venture and the Tata Aria.

Cumulative sales and distribution offtake of passenger vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal are 319,562 nos. (298,496 Tata + 21,066 Fiat), against 259,656 nos. (234,929 Tata + 24,727 Fiat) last year, a growth of 23%. Cumulative sales of Tata passenger vehicles were 298,496 nos., a 27% increase compared to 234,929 nos., over last year. Cumulative sales of the Nano are 70,432 nos., a 132% increase compared to 30,350 nos., over last year. Cumulative sales of the Indica range at 97,845 nos., are lower by 14%. Cumulative sales of the Indigo family are 87,925 nos., higher by 55%. Cumulative sales of the Sumo/Safari/ Aria/ Venture range are 42,294 nos., higher by 26%.

This fiscal, Jaguar Land Rover sales continued their upward trend since launch in June 2009. Cumulative sales of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles in India for the fiscal are at 891 nos, a 268% increase, compared to 242 nos., over last year.

During the fiscal, Jaguar Land Rover introduced the XJ Diesel and XF Diesel in the Indian market.

Commercial Vehicles

The company’s sales of commercial vehicles in March 2011 in the domestic market were 49,753 nos., a 15% growth compared to 43,264 vehicles sold in March last year. LCV sales were 26,416 nos., a growth of 18% over March last year. M&HCV sales stood at 23,337 nos., a growth of 12% over March last year.

Cumulative sales of commercial vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal are 446,782 nos., a growth of 20% over last year. Cumulative LCV sales are 245,655 nos., a growth of 17% over last year, while M&HCV sales stood at 192,127 nos., a growth of 24% over last year.

During the year, Tata Motors launched the Tata Winger Platinum and the Tata Prima Construck range.

Exports

The company’s sales from exports at 5,932 vehicles in March 2011 registered a growth of 45% compared to 4,105 vehicles in March last year. The cumulative sales from exports for the fiscal at 58,044 nos., higher by 70% over 34,141 nos., last year.
