Yamaha plans entry level scooters in India

Yamaha India is getting ready to launch entry level scooters in India by 2012. The launch could coincide with the 2012 Auto Expo and the company will manufacture the scooters at either of its existing facilities at Surajpur and Faridabad.

“We have a number of scooters in other markets like US and Europe and currently, we are studying the Indian market. We will launch entry level scooters here soon,” the Yamaha Motor India director and chief sales officer, Mr Jun Nakata, said.

Yamaha is also aiming to double its bike sales to 500,000 units this year.
