Chevrolet is the subsidiary of the US auto major, General Motors. Chevrolet is a brand, which has managed to gain popularity in all the markets that it operates. Most commonly called Chevy, the Chevrolet cars can be found in all major car markets of the world. The Chevrolet cars were one of the foremost foreign brands of cars to have made its mark in India.

The Chevrolet cars are among the major players in the ever-growing Indian car industry.  It has now become one of the most popular automobile brands of India, and has presence across all segments of the Indian car market.

Chevrolet cars were plying along the Indian roads even before the Indian independence, when it was the most preferred car of the royals. Chevrolet made its début in India in 1918. It was the first automobile company to set up its own plant in India. However, Chevrolet had to withdraw from the Indian market due to many constraints in the later years. When the Indian economy was opened up for investors, Chevrolet came back stronger than ever before.

Chevrolet offers several options across each car segment. In the hatchback segment, it offers the Spark, Beat and Sail U-VA models, which have done very good business. These vehicles are popular among the customers as indicated by the rising sales volume.

In the midrange segment, sedans like Sail and Cruze have made their presence known. These cars come with great comfort and luxury. They are loaded with many attractive features and advanced safety measures. These cars have managed to fight off the tough competition from the rivals like Maruti Swift Dzire, Hyundai Verna, Honda Amaze and the like.

However, Chevrolet’s strength lies in the SUV segment. The various SUV models like the Tavera, Captiva and Enjoy has redefined the style and safety factors of SUVs.

There are many more cars like the Chevrolet Trailblazer, Chevrolet Orlando (both SUVs), Chevrolet Spin (Minivan) and the Chevrolet Beat Electric (Hatchback), which are getting ready to hit the Indian roads soon. This is good news for both the customers, as they will have plenty of options to choose from the ever-growing fleet. Moreover, the company can tap the ever-growing Indian car market to its advantage.

If everything goes according to plans, Chevrolet can be assured of a prominent place in the Indian car market in the days to come as well.
