SAIC-GM recently launched the Sail’ compact sedan at Auto China 2010. Developed by Shanghai GM and the Pan Asia Technical Automotive Centre, the Sail will be sold in China and other developing world markets. The big question is will the Chevrolet Sail be launched in the Indian market?
Considering the JV with SIAC to launch the Wuling brand in India Chevrolet India has also mentioned that they will bring more models from GM China’s stable.
The Chevrolet Sail will be a good fit for Chevrolet as an entry level sedan which will be pitted against Maruti’s Dzire, Tata Indigo, Hyundai Accent and Ford Ikon.
The Sail is available with a choice of 1.2-litre S-TEC II and 1.4-litre S-TEC III engines in the Chinese market.
The Sail could be another global product from Chevrolet’s kitty in India.
