Ford plans to export Figo to newer markets

Ford India,  plans to export its hatchback Figo to newer markets. The company, which few months back began exporting its Figo models to South Africa, also recently launched the car in Nepal.

“Next year onwards we are planning to cover 48 countries. Initially we will export it to North African market, South America, Mexico and in the Emirates region.”, Ford India Managing Director Michael Boneham told reporters here.

Ford recently got additional orders of exporting 2,000 more units. “We have agreed to export 2000 more units to SouthAfrica. We would be doing around 7,000 units by year end”, Mr. Boneham said.

Ford Figo crossed the 50,000 mark in October adding more joy to the festive season. Figo crossed a significant milestone by selling 52,644 units since its launch and has emerged as the preferred choice for customers seeking value-for-money.

Ford India sold 9,026 vehicles in October 2010, an increase of 161% YoY.

To further strengthen its service support, Ford India has expanded its sales and service network by opening two more new dealerships in Pathankot and Bengaluru in October. The company’s dealer network has gone up to 169 across 98 cities in India.
