Honda Brio Sedan to be launched by 2012-13

Honda is now looking at the markets in a more serious way. Specially the emerging markets like India, Thailand, Indonesia and other Asean markets. Honda may launch a sedan based on the Brio platform, similar to the Honda City which is based on the Jazz platform.

The Brio Sedan could be Honda’s answer to Toyota’s Etios as the Honda City is now a segment ahead in terms of price and the entry level sedan segment is getting more hotter than ever before.

Ford launched the cut-price version of the Fiesta and Mahindra has launched the Verito (previously know as Logan). With players like Tata, Toyota and now Hyundai is launching the new Verna in smaller engine options. The customers will be spoiled with choice and Honda will not overlook this segment as the Brio sedan just fits right.

We expect the Brio to come with a 1.2 petrol engine developing 90 hp and a diesel engine may also follow as Honda is developing smaller diesel engines.

Pricing could be close to 5.5 to 7 lakh for the top of the line.
