Hyundai unveils new HDN-7 MPV concept

Hyundai India unveiled the code named HDN-7 MPV. The Hexa Space MPV concept global launch took place at the 2012 Auto Expo. The Hexa Space MPV concept will mostly likely make it into production.

The concept showcased had some amazing slide doors and can seat 8 persons. The seating layout uses 2 seats at the front, 3 in the middle row and 3 at the rear last row.

The concept tries to maximise space which helps to accommodate more passengers.

The V-Shaped grille with large head lamps gives a good appeal to the MPV. The headlamps are also equipped with LED lights and big wheel arches capsulate the tyres neatly. The interiors are well spaced with very modern looks. The seats can be folded completely flat, flipped over in a number of configurations to aid comfort or storage space, as per the need. It also has sliding rear doors to aid ingress and egress to the back rows.

The Hexa Space MPV concept is 4.3 metres long with a 2750mm wheelbase. The MPV will be powered by a 1200cc turbocharged Kappa petrol engine mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox.

If launched in India the Hexa Sapce will have to compete with Maruti Suzuki Ertiga which will be launched tomorrow (6th Jan). A diesel  heart is needed the most if Hyundai is serious about the MPV to be successful in India. The company can easily borrow either the 1.4 or 1.6 diesel hearts from the Fludic Verna.

Hyundai had announced to open a an diesel engine plant in India but later postponed due to the uncertainty of the diesel car market and fuel prices.
