Mahindra-S101-KUV100 official teaser

Mahindra officially unveiled the long awaited KUV1OO, codenamed S101. The KUV1OO will be Mahindra’s new range of compact SUV’s and will be the entry model.

The KUV1OO has been designed from the grounds up at  Mahindra’s research valley in Chennai. The design profile is more compact crossover and has a cab forward design, where the A- Pillar starts at the front wheel arch.

KUV100 Side

The KUV1OO’s sculpted bonnet gets muscular sculpted lines on either side. The Evoque’ish headlights also add a classy look to the front, (sure to push you out its way when you see it coming in your rear view mirror) further down the side the slopping roofline and Squarish wheel arches.

The pillar mounted door handles remind you of the Chevrolet beat but get dull silver trim. The bumper gets a two tone treatment with a vertically placed fog lamps which feature chrome trimmed borders and a scuff plate.  Spy shots have further revealed integrated rear spoiler and a rear wash/ wipe.

Though not yet revealed, there have been several images which have been leaked on the internet through spy shots revealing many interesting bits of the cabin like the single binnacle instrument cluster with two rectangular AC vents mounted on top of the centre console. Other highlights include the gear lever placement on the dashboard; the front seat now uses a bench type seat a bit like the Datsun Go.

An all new family of engines called mFalcon in petrol and diesel options have debuted on the KUV1OO which will power a range of upcoming compact Mahindra products in the future.  The new 1.2 litre three cylinder dual VVT petrol engine badged the mFalcon80 produces good 82 bhp at 5500 rpm and 114 nm of torque , while a 1.2 litre, three cylinder turbo charger diesel unit badged the mFalcon75 puts 77 bhp @ 3750 rpm and 190 nm of torque .  The mFalcon will be mated to a 5 speed manual transmission.
