Skoda cars get costlier, revised pricing announced

Skoda Auto India announced the revised pricing across product range. The company has announced a 1% to 1.8% price increase across its product range effective early August 2012. Skoda has been posting positive sales in the couple of months and the success can be attributed mainly due to the Rapid sedan which offers a good value for the price.

Skoda India is also betting big on the advertisement campaigns to push sales and has launched TV ads and promotional drives which help the customers to further connect to the Skoda cars.

The revised pricing is a result of increasing input prices and volatile exchange rates. Although, despite the challenging market environment which has dampened the sentiment across the auto industry, Skoda Auto India registered a growth of 89% in June 2012 over the same period last year.

India is being considered as an important centre of growth, since the company’s entry in the Indian market more than ten years ago. Under its “2018 Growth Strategy”, Skoda aims to increase its global sales to at least 1.5 million per year.

In the next couple of years Skoda will launch a number of new models and the Citigo hatch which is based on the Volkswagen UP! Could see its India launch by 2014.
