Toyota Camry launched, priced at Rs 23.8 Lakh

Toyota Kirloskar Motors has launched the New Camry in India at a price of Rs 23.8 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). This is the 7th generation of the Camry and un the two previous generations it is assembled in India, at TKM’s Bidadi plant to keep the price competitive.

The outgoing Camry was a Completely built unit (CBU) and hence attracted very high custom duties which made it pricier than its rivals. The the high price and non availability of diesel motor resulted in prospective buyers turning their backs on the Camry. Though there are no signs of diesel powered Camry, Toyota has improved upon the other weakness ie. Value for money.

Though the price has not come down much and the Camry is still costlier than its rivals but it is larger than its predecessor and offers lots of kit for the money.  It comes with the following features:

  • Dual-zone climate control
  • HID headlamps
  • 2-din audio system with touch screen and Bluetooth connectivity
  • In-car entertainment with USB, AUX and DVD
  • Light sensing headlamps
  • rain sensing wipers
  •  all-wheel disc brakes
  • 16-inch alloy wheels
  • Dual Airbags
  • ABS, ESP and Traction Control
  • 8-way adjustable power seats
  • leather seats

The Camry is powered by a new 2.5-liter petrol engine that produces 181PS of power at 6,000rpm and 233Nm of torque at 4,100rpm and is mated to a 6-speed Automatic gearbox. it is available in four colors- Beige metallic, Attitude black, White pearl crystal shine and Silver metallic.
