VW to launch smaller car than Polo

Volkswagen India is not satisfied with one small car and looking at introducing another small car under the Polo in India to tap the fast-growing compact car segment in the country.

Kurt Rippholz:

Asked about the models below the Polo that could be considered for the Indian market, he said: “There’s the Fox in Brazil and Ebisa that’s sold in Spain. But India is a different market. First, we have to decide which car it will be.”

“Believe me, we will have something smaller than the Polo. We are working on it,” Volkswagen Group’s India Communication Head Kurt Rippholz said here.

Volkswagen India is looking for a bigger market share and need more small cars to get numbers. Volkswagen could also look at Suzuki to help them make small cars for emerging markets.

Volkswagen had showcased a small car concept Up, we feel the Up will not make it to India as it will be expensive for the Indian market.

The next big launch for Volkswagen India is the Phaeton which will be more to build its brand and the Vento which give the Honda City some good competition.
