The plant was inaugurated at the hands of Mr. Anand Mahindra, Chairman and MD, Mahindra Group in the presence of Dr. Pawan Goenka, President – AFS, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. and Chairman Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles Pvt. Ltd.

This manufacturing facility is the first plant in India to receive Platinum ratings. It is capable of producing around 30,000 new vehicles in 3 years span. The Reva NXR will be the first car to be produced here and the combined investment on the product and the plant is pegged at over 100 cores.

The Reva NXR is a fully electric vehicle which is powered by an electric motor and runs on batteries which are chargeable. The addition of the Lithium ion batteries has given more flexibility to the Reva and now it will be able to travel around 160km on a single charge. The top speed of the car will be above 100km/hr.

Some of the unique features of the NXR are as follows:

  • Quick2Charge: it gives a 25 kms range from a 15 minute charge.
  • Car 2 Home: it enables a Reva owner to power his house from the car, something which not be out of place in certain parts of our country.
  • Sun2Car: it is a personal charging unit which provides free and clear energy for the life of the vehicle.

The Electric cars may have not tasted success in the Indian market but thanks to the rising fuel prices and the situation may soon change. Mahindra is hoping for the same and will launch The Reva NXR around Diwali to cash upon the festive season.
