The annual extravaganza for motorsport enthusiasts in Karnataka– the K1000 rally – may have been pushed to December from its normal August date, but there still is a reason to celebrate for the speed fanatics.
The inaugural Nestor Heritage Run 2010, organised by Indian Motor Sports Club, will be flagged off from Bangalore on August 27th and cover a total rallying distance of 1,000 kilometres. The rally will be held in Time-Speed-Distance (TSD) format.
Team Goa, represented by Amul Satoskar, will be driving in a Mitsubishi Cedia sports. Amul is currently leading and is on the first place. He was on the second position on first day.
“Nestor is completely new and this is going to be our maiden venture,” said Santosh Kumar, head of Nestor Sports. “The build-up to the event was more than we expected. Entries have come in from across India and it gives us the confidence to conduct two more rallying events later this year.”
The rally attracted 63 entries but it has been cut short to 40, will kick off from Bangalore on August 27 and cover a distance of 390 kms en route to Chikmagalur, where the participants will make their first halt.
The next day, drivers will cover a distance of 350 kms towards Mysore before pitting overnight to compete the 260-km loop within the City on Sunday, following which a ceremonial ride back to Bangalore will take place.
While 28 will compete in the seeded category, 12 will pit their talent in the unseeded category. The total prize money on offer is Rs. 3.5 lakh.
