Volvo launch low priced XC60

Volvo India has launched the XC60 with a new D3 engine. The new variant is at Rs. 34.4 lakhs for the base and the top end variant costs Rs. 37.4 lakhs. The growing demand for SUV’s could have prompted the Swedish car maker to launch more affordable variants which could help the company to help attarct more customers.

The D3 engine is basically a detuned version of the inline, 5 cylinder turbo-diesel D5 engine produces 163 BHP of power and 400 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six speed automatic transmission and also comes with an all wheel drive system.

The Volvo XC60 gets a list of safety equipments like driver alert control (DAC), lane departure warning (LDW), adaptive cruise control (ACC), ABS, hydraulic brake assist (HBA), ready alert brakes (RAB), tyre pressure monitoring,

Luxury features include leather seats, electronic climate control, panoramic roof, speed dependent steering, blind spot information system (BLIS), cruise control etc.

The Volvo XC60 will take on the likes of the BMW X3, Audi Q5 and Land Rover Freelander.

Will the new detuned engine also be strapped on the new S60, S80 and the XC90?

  • Also, it’s not AWD, it’s front wheel drive. This is the eco model of the range.. 🙂

  • Just a note:
The D3 is not a detuned 2.4L 5-cylinder.. It has been destroked down to 2.0L.. 1984cc down from 2400cc D5. The 16.7% reduction is displacement brings more economy on city runs, but not so much more on highway runs.
